Restricted Licence

(YELLOW)

A
  • When driving between 10pm and 5am they must be accompanied by a supervisor which has held a licnece for 2 years or more.
  • If carrying passenges must have a supervisor in the front seat. 2 years or more, UNLESS it’s spouse/partnet/children.
  • Must carry their licence and produce on demmand while driving.

A
  • Driving that includes inattention, thoughtless actions or omissions and deliberate. That is inconsiderate to other road users.

Eg.
* Driving at slow speeds.
* Not allowing reasonable steps to allow a following line of traffic to pass.

Careless Driving

A

Falling below the standards of a resonable prudent motorist

E.g.
* Indicating a left turn, then changing your mind and immediately turing right into the path of an overtaking car.

  • Colliding with a correctly parked car while driving on the street.

Dangerous Driving

A

Driving in a manner or speed which was or might have been dangerous to anyone.

E.g.
* A driver overtaking on the wrong side of the road in th eface of oncomming traffic
* Travelling 80kph in a 50km limit zone, and school children or pedestrians are around.

Reckless Driving

A

Deliberately choosing to drive in a dangerous way.
A more blameworth offence than dangerous driving. Also takes in mental state of driver.

E.g
* Fleeing a cop car at night and turning their head lights off.
* Deliberately drviing through a stop sign at high speeds.

A

Stopping vehicles and demmanding details
You have the right to stop a vehicle if you are enforcing the LTA98 or other traffic related acts.
You have a duty to be in uniform wearing a distinctive cap
You can also stop cyclists, roller bladers etc. (any VEHICLE)
You can demmand the particulars of the driver / who the owner of the vehicle is.

E.g.
Stopping drivers for racing, reckless, or inconsiderate driving.
