Q

How does the dev. of treatments for mental disorders have economical implications?

A

Absence from work costs the economy around £15 billion a yr and 1/3 absences are caused by mild to moderate mental health disorders like depression, anxiety and stress. Research into causes and treatments will therefore result in a healthier workforce.
In many cases ppl are able to manage their disorders and return to work so there is an economic benefit to treating them.
