3
Q

Define structured interview.(4)

A

-all ppts get the same questions in a pre set list
-same questions in the same order
-no deviation from topic
-and cannot ask any extra questions

Q

Strenght and weakness of interviews. (4) compare with unstructured.
LINK WITH IV

A

S- All ppts get the same questions
-so it is easier to compare answers, -identify patterns and make conclusions about behaviour(aggres)
UNLIKE UNSTRUCTURED , no comparisons
W- the researcher cannot deviate from pre set q’s , cannot develop new questions from ppt answers
-not full understanding of behaviour.
UNLIKE unstructured , can develop own questions based on ppts answers, more detail.

5
Q

Define unstructured interview.(3)

A

-contains a topic area for discussion but no set q’s
-ppts gets diff questions
-deviate and develop q’s from ppts answers
-open questions

TOIRTP

A

-TYPE OF INTERVIEW
-O/C questions
-design to reduce INVESTIGATOR EFFECTS, gender, standardised instructions, tone
-recorded interview through video

Q

Define correlation coefficient.(2)

A

1.result from a correlation stats test telling strenght and direction of a correlation
2. ranges from -1 to 1 and closer to 0 weaker the correlation

Q

STRENGHT and WEAK OF CORRELATIONS

A

-s no manipulation of variables, can be used to study sensitive topics that raise ethical issues
-as addiction
-inapprop to mnaipulate variables

WEAKNESS-cause and effect -no iv and dv no manipulation- extraneous variables affect DV

A

1.watch transcript or read diaries
2.re read trancripts

12
Q

S/W of thematic analysis

A

-increased reliability, other researchers use findings and conclusions , other researchers can access the class materials and check for consistency

-Weakness:researches bias, select findings from CA that support their hypothesis then contradict

Q

Protection from harm- deal
Confidentiality deal-

A

1.debrief- withdrawal
2. anonymous data of ppts

17
Q

presumptive consent vs prior consent. (resolved by debriefing)

A

gaining consent from a similar set of ppts who dont take part vs general consents of things that could happen

18
Q

weakness of qualitative data.

A

-harder to analyse identify patterns and make conclusions
-subjective interpretation

19
Q

limitation/strenght of secondary data.

A

-incomplete,outdated, not specific
-more accessible

20
Q

evaluating a limitation of mode/range/median.
ADD 1 to R.
LINK with accuracy.

A

p-not representative
-does not consider all data
-only most common/largest-smallest/middle value considered

21
Q

TEMPORAL VALIDITY

A

-the extent to which findings can be generalised to other time period/remain true over time
-gen to the sample of study
