RM Flashcards
1
Q
Difference between independent and dependant variables
A
- Independent variable is the one we can manipulate e.g. amount of water
- Dependent variable is what is measured e.g. how much the plant grows
2
Q
What are the different types of experiments
A
- Lab experiment; Controlled environment with high control of extraneous variables (something other than IV that can impact DV)
- Field experiment; real life environment but IV is still manipulated
- Natural experiment; where IV is an event or change in the real environment which occurs without manipulation from the researcher
- Quasi experiment; Experiments that have an IV that is based on an existing difference between people (for example, age or gender) and cannot be manipulated
