A
The variety of personal responses to risk in outdoor
experiences, including the interplay between
competence, perceived risk and real risk.
Risk: The potential to lose something that you
value, versus the possibility of gaining something you
value. Risk involves uncertainty.

What can you gain and lose from risks in outdoor experiences?
A
Lose - physical damage to yourself or health (injury)
Gain - physical fitness, adrenaline, flow.

What are the types of risks?
A
Absolute Risk - uppermost limit of risk
Real Risk - The amount of risk that actually exists at a given moment
Perceived Risk - Individuals subjective assessment of the real risk
present at any time.
