Rigging and Lines Flashcards
What is Rigging?
A semi-remote procedure involving the use of rope systems to deal with an IED or suspect packages remotely.
When is rigging most likely to be used?
To remotely perform the SAD process (Separate, Analyze, and Disassemble)
What effect do hazards have on rigging?
1) Affect the extraction route
2) Influence the type of rigging system used
Which rigging system is the quickest and least confusing to set up?
One Line System
What rigging system involves dragging the IED into a safer area?
One Line System
What is the function of a Base Line in a Multi-Line rigging system?
It provides a defined pathway, and suspends the IED throughout the operation
What are the Working Lines in a Multi-Line rigging system?
They lift and move the IED
When should you attach the lines to the IED?
Last, just before returning to the safe area.
What must you know before using rigging?
Is the situation life threatening (It should not be), and can the area withstand a detonation
What are the greatest advantages of a one line rigging system?
Fastest and easiest rigging system
In a two line rigging system, what is the greatest advantage of the second line?
It allows for reversal of direction for the IED (allowing for corrective action from the safe area)
