How is Rib 1 assesed?
A
Place thumbs posteriorly on trapezius
place index finger in supraclavicular fossa and contact rib 1
Place middle finger on manubrium where it conacts rib 1
ask patient to inhale/exhale
determine if ISD/ESD

How do you find the key rib?
A
What ever rib is the cause for the somatic dysfunction
asses bilaterally for comparison

Which rib to treat in ISD?
A
The most inferior rib holding the ribs in inhalation
rib does not move well in exhalation. Stays raised

A
The most superior rib that is held in exhalation. stays depressed
