Where do I find the transverse process in the lumbar region?
On the lateral borders of the Erector spinae Muscle
When is it a Type II Somatic dysfunction?
When the most posteriorly transverse process gets more symmetric in flexion/extension. Then its only that segment
When is it a type I somatic dysfunction?
When in neutral it has symmetry and it does not become symmetric in flexion or extension. The it is a group of muscles.
How is a type II dysfunction diagnosed?
Sidebending and rotation is in the same direction
always diagnosed in the position of ease.
Ex: FRLSL
How is a Type I dysfunction diagnosed?
Sidebending and Rotation in in opposite direction
always diagnosed in the position of ease
EX: FRLSR
What position must the patient be in when assessing?
Straddling or stable stool
