Rhythm Interpretation Flashcards
1
Q
What is VF
A
Shockable rhythm. Chaotic ventricular activity, no cardiac output. Disorganised ECG - impulses irregular around 300-500 per minute
Ineffective quivering of the myocardium
Initial treatment with defib, quick deterioration as heart becomes anoxic and becomes asystole
2
Q
Management of VF
A
Defibrillation (shockable pathway)
3
Q
What is pulseless VT
A
3 or more consecutive PVC occurring rapidly.
Indicates myocardial irritability
QRD complex - wide and bizarre
Rate usually 150-220
Rates >180 more likely to become pulseless - no time for ventricular filling
4
Q
Management of VT
A
Left untreated, VT deteriorates to VF
Defibrillation following shockable pathway
