45 year old woman with RA being treated with IM gold injection for 10 years. She has been well until recently when she has been complaining of a painful right knee. O/E her knee is warm and tender to palpation with a moderate effusion. There is otherwise no evidence of active disease. Tx?
Intra-articular steroid injections
Steroids are used for acute flares of RA
50 year old man has newly diagnosed RA. Has an allergy to cotrimoxazole. Examination shows active synovitis of multiple joints of the hands and feet. Mx?
Sulfasalazine - can’t use methotrexate as similar to cotrimoxazole
60 year old woman diagnosed with RA 10 years ago and her disease has been in remission for the last 4 years. She complains of a cough, runny nose, headache, and increased joint pain. Her grandson has just recovered from a cold. Dx and Tx?
