  • Evidence of systemic illness
    • Leucocytosis, ESR and CRP elevated
  • Evidence of preceding streptococcal infection
    • Throat swab culture
  • Evidence of carditis
    • CXR: Cardiomegaly, pulmonary congestion
    • ECG: AV block, T wave inversion, reduced QRS voltages
    • Echo: Cardiac dilatation and valve abnormalities
