- Invagination of one portion of bowel into the lumen of the adjacent bowel
- Most commonly around the ileo-caecal region

Describe the classical patient who presents with intussusception?
A
- Infants between 6-18 months
- More likely in males

Features of intussusception?
A
- Paroxysmal abdominal colicky pain
- Characteristically draw their knees up and turn pale during pain
- Vomiting
- Blood in stool
- Red-currant jelly is a late sign
- Sausage shaped mass in RUQ

- Abdominal US
- Target-like mass

- Reduction by air insufflation
