Define rhetoric.
Rhetoric is when communication is used to allow points to be persuaded to an audience, to induce a particular course of action or come to a specific conclusion.
Identify various Rhetorical techniques.

What is Demonstrative (or Epideictic) Rhetoric?
It is a speech that honours or dishonours something, e.g. a funeral speech.
What is Judicial Rhetoric?
It is used to determine justice and is concerned with events that happen in the past, e.g. a murder trial.
What is Deliberative Rhetoric?
Deliberative Rhetoric is used to determine advantages or disadvantages of a course of action. It is primarily concerned with future actions. An example of Deliberative Rhetoric is debating a bill in Parliament.
What is Invention?
Invention demonstrates the finding and creation of information that can be used to be persuasive.
What is arrangement?
The order of argument.
E.g. what order an essay should be in to be persuasive.
What is Style?
The language used to create the desired effect. E.g. tricolon.
What is Delivery?
Delivery refers mostly to the non-verbal aspects of a speech.
E.g. non-verbal acts of communication seen in the other module.
What is Memory?
Memory refers to the speaker’s ability to deliver a flawless and perfectly sequenced speech.
E.g. how well they perform.
