A
*It is the commonest soft tissue sarcoma in children under 15 years of age

*Alveolar,
*Embryonal
, *Pleomorphic
*Botryoid.

Which variants have poor prognosis
A
*pleomorphic and alveolar types have poor prognosis

Clinical Features
A
- painless subcutaneous mass,
- epistaxis & nasal congestion,
- swallowing problems, cranial nerve palsies
*symptoms depend on affected site

Staging of tumor
A
STAGING
I- localised, no regional nodes involved
(wholly resectable)
II- resectable tumor with regional nodes
i n v o l v e d
III- gross residualdisease IV- distant metastases

INVESTIGATIONS
A
*Tissue biopsy for histology,
*bone marrow biopsy,
*CT, CSF analysis (to rule out CNS involvement), RFT, LET

TREATMENT
A
- Surgery,
*Radiation,
*Chemotherapy (done over a 28 day cycle using cyclophosphamide, actinomycin D & vincristine)
