Q

What is the Weiner theory of inheritance?

A

The Rh gene produces an agglutination that produces a series of blood factors (antigens). The Rh gene produces at least 3 factors per agglutination.

Q

What is Tippetts theory of inheritance?

A

2 closely liked structural loci (D and CcEe) are produced. 1 allele at the first loci (D) and 4 and the second (Ce, CE, cE, ce). The action is dependent on the RHAG gene.

Q

What causes genetic weak D?

A

D antigens are complete, but few in number (most frequent in African Americans, rare in Caucasians)

Q

What is causes C trans?

A

Caused by gene interaction effect. The allele carrying the D antigen is in the opposite haplotyp to the allele carrying the C antigen (Dce/dCe). The arrangement of the C antigen in relationship to the D antigen appears to interfer with the expression of the D antigen.

Q

What causes partial D (aka mosaic D)?

A

One or more parts of the D antigen are missing. It types weaker than expected or not at all. It may form anti-D to the missing parts of the D antigen. Once anti-D had been identified, the patient must be transfused with D neg blood.
