Rex Flashcards
Descent below LSALT in IMC
Remain above LSALT or Minimum sector altitude
Takeoff or landing on GNSS or DME procedure
Authorised instrument approach procedure
ATC clearance
Visual
Minimum sector altitude
25nm and 10nm MSA provide 1000ft clearance. Can deviate from track within MSA to facilitate entry to instrument approach.
Within sectorised 25nm, if unsectorised 10nm is higher, may maintain lower MSA if within sector.
Arriving at IAF, an aircraft at correct height can commence approach without entering hold if:
In CTA, ATC has cleared; or
Reversal procedure requirements are satisfied; or
DME arc entry requirements are satisfied; or
Within 30deg of first track of procedure;
Visual approach day
Within 30nm of airport Clear of cloud In sight of ground or water Vis 5k Not less than 500ft above lower limit of CTA when in controlled airspace
Visual approach night
At an altitude not below LSALT/MSA for the route segment/step of the arrival: Clear of cloud In sight if ground or water Vis 5k 500ft above lower limit of CTA
Above appropriate MSA or last assigned altitude if being vectored, until;
Appropriate instrument approach available: within circling area for category, at prescribed speed (180kt cat C).
Without approach: within 3nm of ARP with AD in sight
Within 5nm (7nm where ILS equipped) aligned on centreline and established not below slope on PAPI or TVASI Within 10nm (14nm SYD 16L/34L) inside full azimuth deflection of ILS, not below GS
Visual approach in controlled airspace
Clearance for visual app
If on STAR, continue to follow lateral guidance if STAR
When not on STAR, maintain track and heading until:
Day: within 5nm of AD
Night: AD in sight and within curling area
Hold speeds
To 140: 230kt
140 - 200: 240kt
Above 200: 265kt
Airspeed unreliable
