Review Moving Straight Ahead part 1 Flashcards
Linear Relationship
A relationship between two variables for which all the points lie on a straight line.
Unit Rate
The constant rate of change.
Independent Variable
The variable that does not depend on anything. (Time)
Dependent Variable
The variable that depends on the independent variable. (Distance)
Y-intercept
The point where the line crosses the y-axis. (b)
mx + b = y
The equation that all lines that have linear relationship can be written with.
Coefficient
The number that multiplies a variable in an equation. (m)
Solution of an Equation
An ordered pair that makes the equation true. The point also lies on the line.
Increasing Slope
The line is increasing if you have a positive unit rate.
Decreasing Slope
The line is decreasing if you have a negative unit rate.
