Reversible Reactions Flashcards
How do we know the reaction is reversible ?
The arrow points both ways
What are reversible reactions ?
Reactions were the products can react to form the reactants
If we heat something form products than the forward reaction is ?
How would we reverse the reaction
Endothermic because it requires energy in the form of heat
The reactants will get hot because it’s an exothermic reaction to reverse it
If a reversible reaction is exothermic in one direction it is … in the opposite direction ?
Endothermic
Same amount of energy will be transferred in each case tho
What does hydrated copper suflate form when heated ?
Anhydrous copper sulfate ( white solid)
And water Vapor
What will a sealed container do ?
Stop any reactants or products from escaping
This means at some point the forward and reverse reactions take place at the same rate
What is equilibrium ?
The forwards and backwards reactions are occurring at the same rate
- requires a closed system
- the concentrations will remain constant
If the forward reaction is +78kj than the type of reaction taking place is ?
Endothermic
Meaning to reverse the reverse reaction will be -78kj
Why? The amount of energy transferred is the same in each case
