what is retail sale?
sale or supply to a person who intends to use it themselves
what is retail supply?
supply made corresponding to retail sale, supply against NHS prescription
who can conduct a retail pharmacy business?
- Registered pharmacist
- Partnership where all are pharmacists (Eng and Wales)
- Partnership where at least 1 is a pharmacist (Scot)
- A body corporate
- Representatives of deceased pharmacist or who has lost mental capacity
what are conditions to selling P and POM in a premises?
- Must be registered if intends to sell
- Pay annual fee
- Subject to inspections against standards under 5 principles
do hospital pharmacies have to be registered with GPhC?
no but many are to allow supply of prescriptions from outside of hospital
how many RP can be in charge?
only 1 in charge at any one time
only in charge of 1 premises
what needs to be on the RP notice?
clear notice of name
registration number
notice that they are in charge
how long can an RP be absent for?
maximum 2 hours
