what is restorative justice?
restorative justice is a method of reducing and atoning for offending behaviour through reconciliation with offenders and victims as well as the community
what are the 3 aims of restorative justice?

the victims perspective
what are the key features of a restorative justice programme
-supervised by a trained mediator in a non courtroom setting
-the victim is given the opportunity to confront the offender and explain how the incident has effected them-emotional distress
-active involvement
-positive outcomes for both
-relevant community members may have a role
when would RJ programmes typically occur?
pre-trial and the offenders involvement may be considered in sentencing or an alternative to prison
what is the restorative justice council?
RJC is an independent body whose role is to establish clear standards for the use of restorative justice and to support victims.
