Restorative in YPD Flashcards
What are the risk factors for caries in the early permanent dentiton?
first year of eruption deep fissures partially erupted diffcicult to access enamel defects
What can we use to detect caries in YPD?
visual inspection explorer BW xray caries deetctor dyes elctronic FOTI LAser
What are the non operative managemtn technqies?
aim to remin lesion plaque control and brishing diet fluroide fs
what are the operative techniqes?
PRR Fissure biopsy GSR fissurotomy concervative prep prophylactic odontomy enameloplasty
WHat is a PRR?
conservative removal of existing carious lesion from the fissure whilst simultaneously preventing further caries
WHat do you need for a PRR?
LA and rubber dam clean occlusa surface high speed diamond bur etch GIC liner composute
what is the princple behind a PRR?
fissure invedtigated with a small high speed diamond bur and caries removed from AEJ, do not extend into iunaffcted fissures, palce GIC liner and then etch enamel but avoid lining
wash adn dry and restore with composte
place FS onto surface and then check occlusion
What is the rationale behind a GSR?
use GIC tonreplace dentine and this is good becaue of chemical bond to dentine and floride
What other techniqes arethere?
air abrason
chemical removal
ART
laser
WHat is the success of a PRR vs Amalgam?
Welbury 1990
survival time amalgam vs PRR
61.6 vs 63.3
How many teeth got caries after restoraton with amlagm vs PRR?
welbury 1990
amlagam 11/150
PRR 5/150
