Where does the slot face when using a tofflemire?
Gingiva for easily sliding out, usually on the buccal
What is the most common way to use the tofflemire?
- Retainer on the buccal side
- Band emerges from one of the side guide

How is the tofflemire placed from lingual?
Requires use of contra-angle retainer
When should the retainer be placed on the lingual side?
With missing buccal tooth structure
How can the tofflemire be used if emerging through the middle channel?
Straight out the end of the retainer

How do you obtain good contact?
- Loosen the band a quarter turn after
wedging - Burnish the band against the proximal
surface of the adjacent tooth - Pack material hard against the matrix band
in the contact area
How should composite be placed to achieve proper contact?
Incrementally and maintain good margins
What are problems that can occur if occlusion is not considered when restoring a tooth?
- Pain on biting
- Fractured cusp
- Fractured restoration
- Premature wear on tooth
- Trauma to PDL
- Trauma to TMJ
What is the cause of amalgam marginal ridge failure after matrix band removal
removing the matrix band vertically can cause the marginal ridge to fail
You WANT to pull it horizontally straight out the buccal
Where is the handpiece motor located?
MOTOR IS INNNNNN THE ACTUAL HANDPIECE!!!
What is the function of the swivel?
Connects the HANDPIECE to the DELIVERY UNIT
