Q

How do tectonic plates move?

A

Radioactive decay in the earths core heats the mantle and generates convection currents which drives plate motion (and generates magnetic fields)

Q

What are the different plate boundaries?

A

Conservative- two plates slide past each other
Destructive- two plates collide and one flows under the other (subduction)
Constructive- rising convection ur rents pull crust apart forming volcanic ridge

Q

What layers is the earth made up off?

A

Crust-made from thin layers of tectonic plates
Mantle- divided into solid upper part and semi-liquid lower part which can flow
