What is Rhabdomyolysis?
A medical condition that arises from the breakdown of muscle tissue and release of the muscle cells’ contents into the bloodstream.
What are common causes of Rhabdo?
High-intensity, high-volume exercise and negatives
Know when to refer an athlete for medical treatment
Dehydration, Numbness or chronic pain. Always un-responsive athletes.
Be aware of factors affecting athlete safety, such as equipment condition and arrangement, and know how to correctly spot athletes
Spot from the side, maintain equipment and clean equipment
Understand which clients need to be cleared for exercise
Any athlete with a medical condition needs to be cleared by a physician (pregnancy especially)
Understand CrossFit’s hydration recommendations
Drink when you’re thirsty, do not when you are not.
