Responses of Cholinergic Agonists Flashcards
What are the effects of cholinergic agonists to the cardiovascular system when large doses are given?
Decrease heart rate, lower blood pressure because of vasodilation, and slows conduction of atrioventricular node
What are the effects of cholinergic agonists to GI system when normal doses are given?
Peristalsis increase and sphincter muscles relax
What are the effects of cholinergic agonists to the urinary bladder?
Contracts muscles of the urinary bladder, increases tone of ureter, and relaxes bladder’s sphincter muscles. STIMULATES URINATION
What are the effects of cholinergic agonists to the eyes when normal doses are given?
Constriction of eye pupils. Increases accommodation (flattening or thickening of eye lens for distant or near vision)
What are the effects of the cholinergic agonists to the glandular body tissues when large doses are given?
Increase salivation, perspiration, and tears
What are the effects of the cholinergic agonists to the bronchial tissues when large doses are given?
Stimulates bronchial smooth muscle contraction and increases bronchial secretion
What are the effects of the cholinergic agonists to striated muscles when normal doses are given?
Increases neuromuscular transmission, and maintains muscle strength and tone
