PRICE
P - Protection/Paracetamol
R - Rest
I - Ice -> every 2-3 hrs
C - Compression
E - Elevation

Advice for a sprain
A
- 1st 48 hours - PRICE and Paracetamol if needed
- Post 48 hours - Ibuprofen (oral or topical) may be used - avoid for first 24-48 hours as it may delay healing and worsen bruising
- Gentle and gradual reintroduction to activities with support worn if needed
- Stop activity that causes the pain

Questions to ask regarding Malaria
A
- Important to know the location of travel
- How long they are staying for
- Where they are staying so they know the appropriate prophylaxis tablets

Malaria - Referral Criteria/Seek Urgent
A
- Travellers who develop fever of 38 degrees or higher more than one week after being in a malaria risk area
- Develop symptoms suggestive of malaria within a year of return should seek immediate medical care

Symptoms of Malaria
A
- Symptoms begin with fever of 38 or more
- Cold and shivery
- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Aching muscles

Which groups will still be supplied with antimalarial despite being in low risk areas?
A
- Long-term travellers visiting friends and relatives
- Elderly (over 70 years)
- Immunosuppressed
- Co-morbid individuals
- Pregnant women
- Infant and young children
