What is respondent validation?
The sociologist’s interpretation of event or data is checked with that of those who took part in the event.
How is respondent validation conducted?
Feedback is obtained from the participants about the accuracy of the data and about whether the researcher has fairly interpreted the data.

How far the researchers understanding of what is going on in a social setting corresponds with that of the group who normally occupy such a setting.

What is the point of respondent validation?
To reduce the possibility of the researcher exclusively applying their interpretation of the research data to the hypothesis because this might contain bias.
How does Bryman argue respondent validation can be problematic?
The research sample might not be able to validate the research findings because they may misunderstand it or may be unwilling to validate it because they mistake it as criticism towards their actions.
