Respitation Flashcards
Functions
Alveoli- exchange co2/02
Trachea- carry o2 out of lungs
Pharynx- nose- mouth
Inhale/exhale
Inhale-
Diaphragm contacts
Increase pressure/volume
Exhale-
Diaphragm relaxes
Decrease volume
Decrease pressure
Avian respiring system
Air flows one direction so is more effective.
Not as much air gets pumped through body as non avian respiratory system
Formula
Glucose+oxygen-> carbon dioxide +water
C6H1206+602->6C02+6H20
Aerobic
Breakdown of glucose producing ATP using o2.
Produce more energy but slower
Glucose+02->co2+water
Anaerobic
Less energy but quicker
Break down of glucose producing ATP(energy) without o2.
Lactic acid is produced as a waste
product and makes muscles
(Glucose-lactic acid)
Vigorous exercise
Homeostasis
Maintenance of a constant internal environmental
Hypothalmus controls it
Respiration
Produce energy from what we eat
