Nervous Tissue Flashcards
Functions of nervous tissue
Generating new signals
Interpreting and analysing information
Receiving info from external/internal environment
Types of neurons
Sensory- sends impulses from sensory organ to PNS
Motor- impulses from CNS to muscles and organs
Relay/inter- impulses between sensory and motory
Types of tissues
Epithelial- important in absorption , secretion and protection
Connective- support and connect body parts
Nervous- conduct nerve impulses by reacting to stimuli
Muscle - allows movement on the body
Types of epithelial tissue
Simple squamous- in alveoli, allows substances to dissolve
Simple columnar- lines the small intestine
Allows nutrient absorption
Simple cuboidal- kidney tubules
Slows diffusion and secretion of molecules
