What is the nasal cavity
Inside of f your nose, lined with mucous membrane that helps keep your nose moist ( mucous) little hairs help filter air ( dirt/ dust getting into your lungs)
What is the nostril
2 external openings of the nasal cavity letting air into lungs and breathing out
What is oral cavity
Lips, inside lining of lips and cheeks, teeth, gums, front 2/3 tongue, floor of mouth, below, tongue and bony roof of the mouth
What is larynx
Voice box- tube about two inches long in adults and sits above windpipe
What is trachea
Windpipe, cartilage formed tube connecting pharynx and larynx to the lungs allowing passage of air
What is right main bronchus
Wider shorter and more vertical than left main bronchus. Bronchi are the main passageway into the lungs
What is lung
Pair of spongy air filled organs located on either side of the chest. The trachea conducts inhaled air into the lungs through its tubular branches, called bronchi. The bronchi divide into smaller and smaller branches finally becoming microscopic
What is diaphragm
Major muscle of respiration. A large dome shaped muscle that contracts rhythmically and continually, mostly involuntary.
