Salbutamol is a short-acting B2 agonist that inhibit smooth muscle contraction in the bronchioles and instead cause bronchodilation.
Salbutamol is used to treat asthma as well as COPD and bronchspasm.
What is the mechanism of action of Theophylline?
When would you prescribe it?
Theophylline competitively inhibits type III and IV phosphodiesterase, causing bronchodilation.
Theophylline is used to treat bronchospasm in individuals with asthma, bronchitis and emphysema.
