A
dyspnea, tachypnea and lethargy

What are the common blood gas changes associated with PTE
A
hypoxemia, hypocapnia, increased A-a gradient

diagnosing PTE
A
TEG blood or BALF. Angiography- not commonly used- as requires GA. Xr and arterial blood gas- not specific

What happens to D-dimer levels in PTE
A
within 1-2 hour they peak rapidly, and return to baseline within 24-48 hours. The are not pathognomonic, but normal or low levels helps ruling out PTE

A
the byproduct of cross-linked fibrin degradation. reflects fibrinolysis

A
endothelial damage, blood flow stasis, and hypercoagulable state
