Q

The villi : Small Intestine, as the alveoli : what? Why are they both important?

A

Air sacs. They are important because they both absorbs nutrients, to give to body cells.

Q

What are the roles in respiration for the cilia, diaphragm and muscles between ribs, epiglottis, and air sac?

A

Cilia: Take unknown particles from air and traps them. Diaphragm and Muscles between Ribs: To expand when taking in air, and come in when air is let out. Epiglottis: to allow air into the trachea. Air Sac: To allow oxygen and CO2 diffuse in and out of the air sacs.

Q

What gas diffuses into and out of the blood in the body? What gas diffuse into and out of the blood at the lungs?

A

Oxygen diffuses out, and CO2 diffuses in. Oxygen diffuses in, and CO2 diffuses out.

Q

How do the respiratory and circulatory systems work together?

A

Oxygen enters air sacs, which diffuses into the bloodstream, and is sent to the body. CO2 then enters the bloodstream, diffuses into the air sacs, and is sent out the mouth.

Q

What disease is caused by the decreased surface area of the lungs? How does this make it harder to breathe for some people?

A

Q

Which of the five main concepts are used in these actions and products of the body? The stomach has several muscle layers which allow it to churn. The small intestines are lined with villi for absorption. Balancing Energy-In and Energy-Out. The digestive and circulatory systems work together. Drinking enough water.

A
  1. Structure to Function.
  2. Surface Area.
