Protein: Meat, Fish, Eggs, and Milk, Helps Cell Membrane, Non-Steroid Hormones, Antibodies, Enzymes, Build & Repair Tissue, Energy, Storage.
What are good sources of Vitamin A, and uses for it? Vitamins C & D? Calcium and Iron?
Vitamin A: Carrots, Good Night Vision. Vitamin C: Citrus Fruits, Making Connective Tissue. Vitamin D: Sunlight, Strong Teeth and Bones. Calcium: Citrus Fruits, Blood clotting, Proper Cell Functioning, Strong Bones and Teeth. Iron: Red Meat and Spinach, Creates Connective Tissue.
What two factors increase your need for water? What are symptoms of dehydration? Why do caffeinated drinks not count towards your water intake?
Heat & Exercise. Thirst, Lethargy, and not producing urine. Caffeinated drinks don’t count towards your water intake because they make the body urinate more water.

Fruits and vegetables on one side of the plate, with more of the vegetables. Protein and Grains on the other, with more grains.

What contributes to Energy-In? Energy-Out? What is the balance between Energy-in and Energy-out in adolescents?
What you eat contributes to Energy-In. Activities contribute to Energy-Out. Energy-in should be greater than Energy-Out in adolescents.
Why is the term “Calorie free energy drink” misleading?
Because calories provide energy.
What were the three major factors of the mice weight gain assignment? How was the experiment made fair? Why must there be a hypothesis before the experiment?
Exercise, Diet, and Genetics. The scientists made sure that there was a control and a constant, or repeat the studies. A hypothesis must be made before an experiment so that the result didn’t influence your thinking.
What is a carbon footprint? How does eating certain foods increase your carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint is how much carbon dioxide is brought into the ozone layer everyday. Because it could take longer to make a certain food than to make another, and they could be received in different ways.
