Q

Effects of respiration on respiration and why?

A

Increase of breathing rate as more oxygen is needed, increase in heart rate as oxygen needs to be pumped faster around the body, increase in blood movement as more oxygen needs to be delivered to muscles.

7
Q

Comparison between aerobic and anaerobic respiration

A

Aerobic respiration includes oxygen however anaerobic respiration does not. Aerobic respiration produces carbon dioxide and water from using glucose and oxygen however anaerobic respiration only uses glucose and produces lactic acid that build up in muscles.

Q

What does insulin do?

A

Insulin causes the cells take up more glucose, cells to respire more, and tells the liver to store some of the glucose.

Q

What does glucagon do?

A

16
Q

What is type 2 diabetes?

A

Type 2 diabetes is where your cells don’t respond to the insulin given.

17
Q

What are the causes of type 1 diabetes?

A

The reason why people get type 1 diabetes is thought to originate from a genetic disorder.

18
Q

What are the causes of type 2 diabetes?

A

Type 2 diabetes is caused by the lack of exercise and is more likely to effect you as you get older. There is also a strong genetic tendency to get type 2 diabetes.

19
Q

What are the effects of type 1 diabetes?

A

A symptom of type 1 diabetes is that your kidney excretes glucose in your urine. You get very tired and thirsty. You also lose weight.

20
Q

What are the effects of type 2 diabetes?

A

A symptom of type 2 diabetes is that your kidney excretes glucose in your urine. You get very tired and thirsty. You also lose weight.

21
Q

How can type 1 diabetes be treated?

A

It is managed through shots of insulin after meals. This is very difficult. Because you need to be constantly regulating your blood sugar levels.

22
Q

How can type 2 diabetes be treated?

A

Eat a balanced diet, loose weight, and do regular exercise. If you do these things then you may be able to restore you blood sugar levels to normal.
