Q
Oxidative Phosphorylation
A
10 NADP and 2 FADH enter the inner membrane of mitochondria from the krebs cycle (and are then recycled)
The Hydrogens are split into H+ and e-. The e- are excited so pass through an electron transfer chain donating energy to the proteins.
The proteins use the energy to actively transport H+ ions creating an electrochemical gradient
Due to the electrochemical gradient H+ is facilitated diffused into ATP synthase were 3 ADP and 3 Pi come together to produce 3 ATP
2 H+ and 2 e- combine with 1/2 o2 to produce H2O
