- Carcinoma: bronchial or mesothelioma
- Chronic lung suppuration: empyema, abscess, bronchiectasis, CF
- Fibrosis: idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, TB

A
- blue discolouration of mucosal membranes or skin
- deoxygenated Hb >5g/dl

- Hypoventilation: COPD, MSK
- Decreased diffusion: pulmonary oedema, fibrosis
- V/Q mismatch: PE/AVM
