Q

tracheal displacement different causes

A

away from = pneumothorax + pleural effusion

towards =collapsed lung, expansion reduced on one side with all.

Pneumothorax – increased resonance, reduced breath sounds.

Pneumonia – coarse creps + bronchial breathing

Pleural effusion – stony dull percussion, reduced breath sounds

COPD summary of all

A

signs (flap, bounding pulse, hyper-expanded/res, exp wheeze), CP, CXR may show pneumothorax, ABG – T2RF FBC – low alb if severe spiro – low FEV1, ratio <0.7 GOLD classification of severity. Cons – stop smoking, physio Med – salbutamol +/- tiotropium +/- ICS, vaccs, LTOT if palliative + non smoker + <7 O2
