When people are able to eat enough nutritious food to stay healthy and active

When people aren’t able to get enough food to stay healthy or lead an active life

A term used to describe the large increase in crop production especially in poorer countries, achieved by the use of high-yielding crop varieties (mainly cereal crops), artificial fertilisers and pesticides

Why does the demand for energy outstrip the supply?
As the majority of our energy resources are non-renewable
Why does the demand for food outstrip the supply?
As the population is growing climate change is causing drought in naturally hotter countries so there is not enough water to fill the plants needs

He believed that the population means resource failure
What did Boserup believe?
That the larger the population means more brain power therefore more technological achievement

When food from other countries can be imported and is not restricted by import duties or a group of national trading nations
What does intensive farming have high inputs of?
Fertilizers, machinery and labour
What do intensive farming produce, and what are the drawbacks?
High yields of crops available to the land, but it does increase productivity and many associated damaging environmental effects
What are food banks for?
To support people with personal food insecurities
