Aging population
Population structure that becomes the distorted with high and increasing proportion of people in middle and old-age.
Birth rate
The amount of births per year per 1000
Conflict zone
An area (usually a country or part of a country) where two or more groups of people have a serious disagreement that results in economic, social or millitary aggression
Culture
The values and beliefs of the particular society or group of people often associated with the arts and creativity
Death rate
The amount of deaths per year per 1000
Demographic transition model
A theoretical model based on the experience in the UK showing changes in population characteristics over time
Economic hub
A central point or area associated with economic success and innovation
Internally displaced people
People who have been forced to move from their homes but have resettled within their own country rather than migrating to a foreign country
Media
The communication of information and ideas, commonly involving newspapers, magazines, TV and the Internet, but also involving music, theatre and even video games.
Multilateral
Action taken, often in the form of aid or sanctions, involving several different countries
Natural increase/decrease
The difference between the first rate and death rate usually expressed as a percentage
Population perimid
A diagram, essentially a bar graph, that shows the structure of the population by sex and age, category that may resemble a pyramid shape
Refugee
A person who has been forced to leave their home country and move to another country, often in response to persecution or natural disaster
Unilateral
Action taken, often in the form of aid or sanctions, involving a single country
Water stress
Pressure on water supply is caused by demand exceeding or threatening to exceed supply
