Resistance and Ohms law Flashcards
1
Q
What is the method of the experiment investigating how voltage across a resistor affects current through it
A
- Set up apparatus as shown in diagram
- Turn dial on variable power supply until voltmeter reads zero
- Measure current using ammeter
- Repeat 2 and 3 increasing voltage
- repeat experiment and take average
- Draw a graph of V against i
2
Q
How does voltage across resistor affect current through it
A
As the voltage increases the current increases. Voltage and current are directly proportional
3
Q
What does Ohms law state
A
The current through a wire is directly proportional to the voltage across it if the temperature of the wire remains constant.
4
Q
What is Ohms law equation
A
V=IxR
V=voltage
I= Current
R= Resistance
