research methods: calculating % and graphical presentation of data Flashcards
1
Q
how do you find percentages?
A
- start by finding what 1% is
- e.g. what is 6% of 31?
- find 1% by dividing 31 / 100 = .31
- now multiply it by 6 to find 6% e.g. .31 x 6 = 1.86
- 6% of 31 is 1.86
2

- x axis must be labelled (usually the iv)
- y axis must be labelled (usually the dv)

Q
what is a bar chart?
A
- use bars which do not touch and can be used for all types of data
4
Q
what are histograms?
A
- these use bars which touch and used with interval data only
