Q

Outline Milgram 1963 study!!

A

· Claimed research was aimed at investigating the role of punishment in learning and memory/Germans are different hypothesis.

· Carried out the research at Yale University.

· 40 male participants took the part of either ‘teacher’ or ‘learner

· Participants drew lots to establish roles but draw was fixed. The learner was always a confederate (accomplice) of Milgram and the volunteers were always given the role of teacher.

· Milgram strapped learner into a chair and attached electrodes to his arm.

· Teachers were taken to another room – could hear but not see learners.
