what are the key switches in the b side electrical cabinet
the brake pipe mode switch
door loop bypass
safety loop bypass
trip cock bypass
what are the positions of the key switch
0 and 2 o’clock
how do you use the brake pipe mode key switch
1 uncover the key switch
2 insert master key
3 turn to the 2 o’clock position
4 observe the brake pipe mode indicator lights are flashing (one on the fault panel one in the windscreen)
(turned in the coupled cabs not the lead cabs)
the light should flash
in both cabs
when operating a brake pipe mode rescue the trains must not be electrically coupled
when is the TU1 active ?
when the BPM key switch has been turned
once satisfied diasabled and assisting are coupled
continuity
establish comms
is the assisting driver sees brake cylinder increase they much go to coast
whenever trains are stationary (resetting emergency etc) both trains must apply park brakes (the signal for SPB won’t travel through the non electrical coupler)
braked from the front power at the back

braked from the rear 15
braked and powered from lead reduced
if you are under the threshold 0.2km\h and you apply the emergency brakes on the assisting train
it will apply on the whole consist
if you apply on the disabled under the threshold it will apply on that consist only
do you turn the BPM switch selector knob before or after you turn the key switch into position
pick your mode switch position THEN turn the key
siemens pulled by siemens (disabled)
SPB applied both consists
check coupler/ end cocks are open etc
isolate yellow A side electrical isolate
(the driver of disabled authorised the movement the assisting performs the ease up)
once coupled isolate trip cock bypass
isolate VICERS
operate mode switch
observe mode switch flashing lights
isolate trip cock MCB
isolate TRACTION CONTROL UNIT in all motor cabs of disabled train ( this will inhibit the holding brake you will not see holding pressure)
move to set speed
set pilot valve
coast and reset trip ensure light is not illuminated
siemens pulled by siemans (assisting)
deactivate the cab SPB on
go to coupled motor and operate BPM switch accordingly
turn the key switch to 1 o’clock
observe light flashing red
back to the lead
isolate VICERS
activate cab
go to forward set hand of foot reset trip and remain in full service
