2 driver procedure
arriving stops 1m short, detrain, cut out
relief meets at the 6 car mark, confer, detrain first unit go to leading centre motor and cut in. get the tip close the doors.
observe park brake and emergency pressure, press the button.
cab to cab intention to set back 1m.
once divided
if the train is to remain in the yard- stabled
if it is to enter service full can inspections and functionality’s (except no trip test to be conducted when at a platform)
if the train fails to couple
contact train controller (do not use the rip cord)
failure of electrical doors to close after a divide
press the uncouple button again, this will supply air to the uncoupling cylinder and retract the coupling mechanism, book as per FMP
attaching at a platform (2 drivers required)
headboards should be set to ‘not in service’
assisting driver is to stop at the 6 car mark (or another mark if advised) detrain and advise plat staff that the first unit is ready to be coupled. then close doors, extinguish saloon lights. full cab unattended head to other end.
attaching driver stop ONE METER (approx) to the other unit, detrain, close door extinguish saloon lights
assisting will inspect coupler mouthpieces
end cocks are open
electrical switches are set
(must not enter the pit to do this)
couplers are aligned
ensure area is clear, give the ease up hand signal
check that the electrical coupling heads have sealed and correctly attached and the uncouple button illuminates
safety loop continuity test 2 drivers
leading cab is active, lead cab set the hand pilot and confirm with trailing centre via cab to cab that they see holding pressure and safety loop tile is extinguished.
move MC to emergency observe safety loop is illuminated and 280 emergency pressure
MC back to coast safety loop extinguished holding pressure observed
ONCE COMPLETED THRN ON SALOON LIGHTS RELEASE DOORS SET UP CAB FOR DEPARTURE
attaching 1 driver (in a yard)
stop 1 meter short of the stabled unit, full cab unattended, check banner flags tags motor numbers road number
pre cab visual raise pantos
check park brake is illuminated, no other cab is active (NEVER ATTACH TO AN ACTIVE CAB) no noticed about attach and divide.
check coupler mouth pieces
end cocks are open
electrical levers cocks are open
couplers are aligned
area is clear of people ease up and attach
uncouple button illuminates
heads are sealed
at minimum perform a mainline prep
when would you perform a post maintenance prep
after a scheduled maintenance exam in a workshop environment
after undergoing repairs after a collision
after safety critical failures or brake failure repairs
physical checks for attach
park brake tile illuminated
no other cabs active
