What type of method is being used
Continuous monitoring method
Step 1
Add 50cm3 of 0.1moldm-3 hydrochloric acid into a conical fask
Step 2
Set up the gas syringe equipment
Step 3
Add 6cm strip of magnesium into the conical flask, place bung on top and start the timer
What should be done every couple of seconds
Swirl the flask
Step 4
Record the volume of hydrogen gas produced every 15 seconds for 150 seconds
Step 5
Repeat the experiment, changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid
