17
Q

Where in the female reproductive system does fertilisation typically occur?

A

Ampulla of the fallopian tube

18
Q

Which hormones does the ovary produce?

A

Oestrogen, progesterone

19
Q

Which ligaments connect to the ovary to lateral wall?

A

Suspensory ligaments

20
Q

What structures are found in the suspensory ligament?

A

Ovarian artery & vein

21
Q

What are the 3 layers of the uterine wall?

A

Endometrium, myometrium, perimetrium

22
Q

What are the erectile tissues of the penis?

A

two corpus cavernosa, one corpus spongiosum

23
Q

Is erection a parasympathetic or sympathetic response?

A

Parasympathetic

24
Q

Is ejaculation a parasympathetic or sympathetic response?

A

Sympathetic

25
What is the process of erection?
Deep penile arteries in the cavernosa dilate, filling the penis with blood
26
What is the process of ejaculation?
Semen is emitted from the accessory glands into the urethra and ejected by strong spasmodic contractions
27
How does blood fill the penis during erection?
The deep penile arteries enter the corpora cavernosa and penetrate the lacunae within. When the arteries dilate, the lacunae fill with blood resulting in an erect penis
28
Where does parasympathetic innervation of the penis arise?
Pelvic splanchnic nerves (S2-S4)
29
Where does sympathetic innervation of the penis arise?
Sympathetic chains (T12-L2)
