Amenorrhea
the absence of menstruation, often defined as missing one or more menstrual periods
Balanitis
inflammation of the glans, or head, of the penis (more common in uncircumcised males)
Cervix
the lower, narrow end of the uterus that forms a canal between the uterus and vagina.
Circumcision
surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of the penis
Cryptorchidism
when one or both testes fail to descend from the abdomen into the scrotum
Dysmenorrhea
difficult or painful menstruation, usually involving abdominal cramps
Dyspareunia
persistent genital pain that occurs just before, during or after sex
Ectopic pregnancy
fertilized egg that implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus
Endometriosis
is an often painful disorder in which tissue similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus grows in abnormal places in the abdominal or pelvic cavities.
Epididymitis
is an inflammation of the coiled tube, called the epididymis, at the back of the testicle.
Hysterosalpingo-oophorectomy
surgical removal of the fallopian tubes and ovaries
Inguinal hernia
occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles into the groin area.
Oligospermia
low sperm count, generally with a count lower than 15 million sperm per milliliter of semen.
Oophoritis
inflammation of the ovary or both ovaries
Orchitis
inflammation of the testicle or both testicles
PAP smear
A procedure in which a small brush is used to gently remove cells from the surface of the cervix and the area around it to look for abnormal cells.
PCOS
is a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges
Peyronie Disease
a condition where a build-up of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis that causes curved, painful erections
Phimosis
inability to retract the foreskin covering the head of the penis
PID
an infection of a woman’s reproductive organs, especially the uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries
Prepuce
medical term referring to the male foreskin or the fold of skin surrounding the clitoris.
Priapism
persistent and painful erection of the penis usually without sexual arousal
Salpingitis
inflammation of the fallopian tubes
Sterility
an inability of a living organism to effect sexual reproduction
Testicular torsion
testicle rotates that causes the spermatic cord that brings blood to the scrotum, causing sudden and often severe pain and swelling
Varicocele
abnormally dilated veins in the scrotum
Vas deferens
a coiled duct that which carries sperm away from the testicle toward the urethra
Vulva
the outer part of the female reproductive structure
Hirsutism
growth of coarse, dark hair in areas where women typically grow fine hair or no hair at all
Paraphimosis
foreskin is retracted and can not be moved forward to cover the glans penis
