FSH
helps control the menstrual cycle and stimulates the growth of eggs in the ovaries
Estrogen
stimulate the growth of the egg follicle and thickens the endometrium lining to prepare it for pregnancy
LH
triggers the release of the egg from the ovary and stimulates the release of progesterone after ovulation by the corpus luteum
Progesterone
continues to thicken the lining of the endometrium, prepares the endometrium to accept to a fertilized egg, and limits the muscle contractions of the uterus.
Oxytocin
stimulates the contraction of the uterus during childbirth (labor) and promotes the movement of milk through the ducts in the breast (breast feeding).
Prolactin
stimulates the development of breast tissue and the production of milk (during lactation).
FSH male
stimulates testicular grown and the formation of receptor proteins, sensitive to testosterone, in the seminiferous tubules.
LH male
stimulates the testicles to make testosterone, which is important for producing spermatogenesis.
Testosterone
necessary for the continued spermatogenesis. Without testosterone, the sperm cells cannot move past meiosis.
