Menstrual phase
The shedding of the uterine lining, removal of the unfertilized egg from the female reproductive system first day of menstrual cycle
Follicular phase
Follicles start to develop in the ovaries and the uterine lining begins to thicken
Ovulation phase
LH is released in a surge from the anterior pituitary gland the follicle releases the egg into the fallopian tube
Luteal phase
Follicle changes to the corpus luteum which increases the realize of progesterone the uterine lining thickens and continues to become highly vascular
Prolactin
Promotes production of milk in the breast tissue
Oxytocin
Promotes the contraction of the uterus and the milk letdown reflex while nursing
Common yeast causes infection in females
Candida albicans
Uterine cancer
Cancer in the uterus lining
Leyomas
Occurs in smooth muscles which can be other parts outside the uterus
Endometriosis
Abnormal growth of endometrium in the uterus, fallopian tubes, surrounding tissues, and pelvic

At home pregnancy detect moms pregnancy
Week 6
Ultrasound can detect fetal heartbeat but is susceptible to drugs disease and challenges- greatest risk of miscarriage
Week 12
All organs are now present in the fetus and the chances of miscarriage are much lower
Week 20
Gender can be determined by ultrasound
Week 28
Weighs about 2 pounds- nervous system is active- good chance the baby would survive if born prematurely
